LONG, Bernice, age 82, of Chelsea, formerly of Fenton, died March 2, 2005 at home. Funeral Services will be held 1PM Saturday, March 5, 2005 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Rd., Fenton. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6-8PM Friday and 11AM until the time of service on Saturday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Arbor Hospice and Home Care, 2366 Oakvalley Dr. Ann Arbor, MI 48103. Bernice was born July 19, 1922 in Flint, the daughter of Hugh Green and Frances (Reed) Sutton. She lived in Fenton and graduated from Fenton High School in 1940. After graduation she went to work at General Motors where she met her husband, Earl Frederick Long. Bernice and Earl were married in Fenton on January 9, 1942. Bernice was an avid doll collector, in particular, German dolls. She would travel from show to show buying and selling dolls, with her husband, who made magnificent doll houses and furniture as well. Bernice was also a member of the Flint Doll Club. Surviving are her husband Earl of Chelsea; 3 children, James Long and wife Miriam of Canton, Mark Long, Sheree McConville of Chelsea; 9 grandchildren, Jennifer LaFlair and husband Craig, James Long and wife Cindy, Jeff, Julie, Jamie, Jill, Samuel, Louisa, Soloman; 5 great-grandchildren, Jakob, Cameron, Ethan, Julia, Kendall; 3 sisters, Doris German of Harrison, Wilma Unger of Harrisville, Marjorie Norris of Flint; 1sister-in-law, Ellen Brehrens of Lowden, IA.
