Bernice FOLEY

FOLEY, Bernice - Age 94, of Flint, died Monday, March 30, 2009 at Durand Senior Care and Rehabilitation Center. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 12:00 PM Wednesday, April 1, 2009 at St. Pius X Catholic Church, with Fr. Robert Copeland celebrating. Burial immediately following at New Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Sharp Funeral Homes, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek Tuesday from 4-9 PM and at church Wednesday from 11:00 AM until time of service. Those desiring may make contributions to Heartland Hospice or the Alzheimers Association. Mrs. Foley was born August 18, 1914 in Alpena, the daughter of Maxim and Ida Mae (Adrian) Burnash. She was a graduate of Flint Central High School. She married William D. Foley December 27, 1945 in Alpena and he preceded her in death December 11, 1971. Mrs. Foley retired from GM Parts in Swartz Creek. She was a former member of St. Michael Catholic Church. Surviving are: 2 children, Mary K. and husband Michael Thomas of Swartz Creek and John and wife Michele Foley of Highland; 4 grandchildren, Paul and wife Elisa Thomas of Swartz Creek, Sarah and husband Mario Genovesi of Swartz Creek, Julie and husband John Gilmour of Grand Blanc, John Thomas and Michelle Moody of Flint; 4 great grandchildren, Nicholas Genovesi, Allie Thomas, Benjamin and Ruby Gilmour; special friend, Maureen Smith of Flint; several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her parents; great granddaughter, Grace Gilmour; 4 brothers and 6 sisters. The family wishes to extend special thanks to Heartland Hospice, especially Cecilia, Vickie, Sandy, Sharlene, Gert, Mary Jo and Tammy and also special thanks to Durand Senior Care and Rehabilitation Center for their loving care over the years.
