Bernard Smith

SMITH, Bernard "Bernie" - Age 86, of Flint, died Tuesday, October 27, 2015. Services will be held 12PM Thursday, November 12, 2015 at Sharp Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Road, Flint. Cremation has taken place, and interment will follow in Great Lakes National Cemetery. Visitation will be held 10AM until time of service Thursday. Those desiring may make contributions to the Salvation Army or Court Street United Methodist Church. Bernie was born September 6, 1929 in Flint, Michigan, the son of the late Mitchell and Sarah (Calderhead) Smith. Bernie married Janice Halverson in Flint, Michigan on November 3, 1950. He served his country in the Army as an MP during the Korean War. Bernie graduated from Northern High School and enjoyed boating Bernie worked for Buick, Fisher Body and AC Spark Plug for 48 years, 22 of those years as Apprentice Coordinator for U.A.W. Local 651. Surviving are: wife, Janice of Flint; sons, Kenneth (Carol) Smith of Grand Blanc, James (Vickie) Smith of Grand Blanc; grandchildren, Brian (Julia) Smith of Burton, Carrie (Tony) Marinelli of Utah, Aaron Smith of NJ, Brendan (Monica) Smith; great grandchildren, Molly Smith, Charlie Smith, Henry Marinelli; nephews, Alan (Debi Smith of Swartz Creek, Mark (Jane) Smith of Swartz Creek and niece, Andrea (John) Hardaker of Flushing .
