ROURKE, Bernard V. -- Age 85, of Lennon, died Tuesday, May 1, 2007 at his residence. Funeral Services will be 1 PM Saturday, May 5 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek. Interment in Flint Memorial Park, Mt. Morris. Visitation will be 2-8 PM Friday. Those desiring may make contributions to a veterans organization of choice. Mr. Rourke was born May 25, 1921 in Mt. Union, PA, the son of John and Marie (Schnieder) Rourke. He was married to Erma Elizabeth Wakefield on July 22, 1942 and she preceded him in death April 4, 2005. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps serving in WWII in the South Pacific. Mr. Rourke retired from G.M. - A.C. Spark Plug in 1986 with many years of service. He was a member of the Durand VFW, American Legion, and Moose Lodge. He enjoyed woodworking and was a "jack of all trades." Surviving are: two children, Bernadean and husband Spencer Carpenter of West Branch, Barry Rourke and wife Rose of Ft. Valley, VA; nine grandchildren, Cory, Greg, Christopher, Sean, Julie, Barry, Rick, Spencer, and Rob; thirteen great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren.
