Bernard J BRITTON

BRITTON, Bernard J Age 77, a servant of Jesus, was prayed to heaven on Tuesday March 13, 2012, by all of his loving family. His beautiful and loving bride of 58 years, Barbara was at his side while his children and grandchildren encircled him with prayers and praises as he left this world. Funeral services will be held 1 PM Saturday, March 17, 2012 at Sharp Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Rd., Flint with Brother Brad Richardson officiating. Visitation will be held 12-8 PM Friday. "Bernie" was born on August 21, 1934 to Carl J. and Geraldine Louise Britton in Montrose MI. He was a 1952 graduate of Montrose High School. In 1954, he married Barbara Jean Kinney and they spent the rest of their lives together raising their 5 wonderful children: John and Patti of Flushing, MI, Bernie (Ed) and companion Emily of Tucson, Arizona, Robert and Tracy of Clifford, MI, Terry and Brian Edwards of Linden, MI and Steve and Laurie of Flint, MI. Their children blessed them with 23 grandchildren and spouses, along with 37 great grandchildren. He also leaves behind 3 sisters, Joyce (Gordy) Mcdonagh, Donna (Van) VanTassel, Sandra (John) Barber and sister in law Carolyn Kinney. Bernie began his career at General Motors, and then spent the next 34 years working as a machinist at Schmald's Tool and Die. In 1997, Bernie retired from tool and die, and began his new career as a "farmer" in 1999 when they moved to Clifford, MI. He adopted his best friend, Jed, in 2000 and from that time on they were inseparable. As a family, we have so many great memories of this wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Our hearts will be comforted with the blessed hope that we will see him again in heaven with our Lord Jesus. Bernie was preceded in death by his parents, father and mother in law and 2 brothers in law. A special thanks to Caron, our Palliative care and Hospice nurse. She was loved by us all.
