Bernard "Bud" E. Bickell, age 91, of Swartz Creek, passed away on Tuesday, February 7, 2023. Graveside Services & Military Honors will be held on Wednesday, June 21, 2023 at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan. Pastor Dave Boillat officiating. Bud was born on July 22, 1931 in Flint, Michigan to the late Lyle & Eva Bickell. He attended Central High School in Flint. He proudly served his nation in the United States Army during the Korean War. Bernard was employed with General Motors as an inspector for thirty-two years before retiring in 1982. He was a faithful Baptist who enjoyed going to church and reading Scripture. Bud loved his Bible and enjoyed memorizing Scripture. He had highlighted many verses in his Bible of which they became his favorites. He was a die-hard Detroit Tiger baseball fan and loved all things baseball. Bernard was an avid gardener and grew vegetables.
He is survived by his wife of forty-one years, Ronda, his three children, Gayanne ( Rusty Duncan) Bickell, Michael (Laura) Woodruff and Angela Woodruff and 8 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and 2 great great-grandchildren. Bernard is further survived by his two sisters, Lois Tankersly and Sandy Yettaw and many other dear family members and friends too numerous to list.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sons, Joseph and John; his brother, Bob Bickell; grandson Douglas Woodruff and Great-granddaughter, Brittney Stembridge.
