Bernard Amthor

AMTHOR, Bernard Matthew - age 92, of Linden, died Friday, September 16, 2016 at Genesee Care Center. Services will be held 1:30 PM Tuesday, September 27, 2016 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel 1000 W. Silver Lake Rd., Fenton. Inurnment will follow at 2:30 PM at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly. The family will receive friends from 12:30 PM - 1:30 PM Tuesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Reverence Hospice or American Legion Linden Post 0119. Bernard was born February 25, 1924 in Gaylord, MI, the son of Matthew C. and Margaret Leota (McKim) Amthor. He married Ann-Marie Francen on August 29, 1946 and she preceded him in death on August 28, 2014. Mr. Amthor was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during WWII in the 28th Infantry Division - Reconnaissance and was a member of American Legion Linden Post 0119. He retired from General Motors V8 Engine Plant after 30 years of service. Surviving are: sister-in-law, Carol Amthor; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by: his wife, Ann-Marie Amthor; parents, Matthew and Margaret Amthor; brothers, William and James Amthor; sisters, Jane Baker, Virginia Carver, Marie June, and Mary Trawick; brothers-in-law, Darrell Baker and George June; sister-in-law, Sherry Amthor.
