PICKHOVER, Benjamin Arthur, "Ben"age 78, of Fenton, died Tuesday, February 5, 2008 at Genesys Health Park. Funeral Services will be 1PM Saturday, February 9, 2008 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Rd., Fenton. Pastor Jim Wiegand officiating. Military honors will be performed under the auspices of Fenton V.F.W. Curtis-Wolverton Post #3243 following services at the funeral home. Visitation will be Thursday 5-8PM and Friday 1-4 and 6-8PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to a charity of one's choice in Ben's memory. Ben was born October 28, 1929 in Detroit, the son of Ben and Grace (Smith) Pickhover. He married Mildred Gonet in Detroit on November 3, 1950. In his early years, Ben was employed by Buels Tool and Die and later he worked for General Motors Metal Fab, then transferred to Delphi in Livonia, retiring in 1986. During retirement, he was employed at Indian Springs Metro Park as a golf ranger. Ben loved cars, boats, photography and sports, especially golf, hockey, baseball and wrestling. Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Mildred; 4 children, Linda Snider of Fenton; Guy (Kim) Pickhover of Linden, Mike (Karen) Pickhover of Fenton, Blaine Pickhover of Fenton; 11 grandchildren, Amber, Autumn, Summer, Courtney, Ashley, Katie, Michael, Jenna, Jessie, Garrett, Allison; 1 great-granddaughter, Sarah Grace; 3 sisters, Phyllis Havey of Florida, Barbara (Mickey) Brynes of Rochester, Sally (Robert) Youngs of Mississippi and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and son, Kurt. The family extends special thanks to all the good friends who visited Ben while in convalescent care.
