FURTICK, Benjamin F., age 82, of Flint, died Friday, January 26, 2007 at Genesys Hospice Care Center, Goodrich. Funeral Services will be held 12PM Monday, January 29, 2007 at Sharp Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Rd., Grand Blanc Twp. Pastor Levi Parish officiating. Visitation will be held 3-8PM Sunday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Eastgate Baptist Church Building Fund or Genesys Hospice Care Center. Benjamin was born October 6, 1924, in Booneville, Mississippi the son of Benjamin A. and Laura (Davis) Furtick. He married Opal Johnson on August 20, 1947 in Booneville, Mississippi. Benjamin had lived in the Flint area since 1969, was employed by Lucas Industries, and was a member of Eastgate Baptist Church. He enjoyed yard work and gardening but most of all he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Surviving are his loving wife of 59 years, Opal; daughter, Dianne McClure and husband Elden of Flint Township; son, Larry Furtick and wife Deni of Grand Blanc; 3 grandchildren, Amber and Brittney of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, Chad of Grand Blanc; sister, Mauveline Lambert of Booneville, Mississippi; special friends, Larry Melton and Bob Dunn. He was preceded in death by his parents; 1 brother and 3 sisters. The family extends special thanks to the Genesys Hospice staff for the special care they provided.
