WIINAMAKI, Barry Thomas -- Age 53, of Swartz Creek, died June 16, 2011. Funeral Services will be 11 A.M. Tuesday, June 21 at Messiah Lutheran Church, 8497 Miller Road, Swartz Creek, Pastor Joyce Johnston officiating. Interment in Sunset Hills Cemetery, Flint. Visitation will be 2-8 PM Monday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek; and also 10 A.M. until the time of service at the church on Tuesday. Those desiring may make contributions Messiah Lutheran Church. Barry was born December 8, 1957 in Detroit. He lived in Houghton, MI, in his younger years before moving to Swartz Creek in 1966 at the age of nine. He finished his schooling in Swartz Creek. In the early 1970's Barry had an onset with a disabling disease, Myoclonic Epilepsy (Baltic Type), which he struggled with for 40 years. He was an active member of the handicapped Boy Scouts of America for 20 years and an avid sports fan who supported all the Michigan teams. Barry also loved to sing Karaoke at JW's. Left to cherish his memory are parents, Tom and Nancy Wiinamaki; sisters, Shari and Dennis Sweeney of Swartz Creek, Lori and Dave Mertz of Wyoming, MI; brothers, Jeff Wiinamaki of Grand Blanc, Randall Wiinamaki of Flint; numerous nieces and nephews and some great ones too; and many many cousins. He was preceded in death by his brother, Craig Wiinamaki; all of his grandparents, some aunts, uncles and cousins. A special thanks to the Bertram House for his care and housing for the last six years; Tony, his C.M.H. Counselor, and Cornerstone the day program.
