Barry Vath Sr.

VATH, Barry Keith Sr. - Age 70, of Flushing, died Saturday September 3, 2016 at home in the loving arms of his wife and family after a courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease. A memorial service will be held 12 PM Saturday, September 24, 2016 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek. The family will receive friends from 11 AM until the time of service. Barry was born in Flint, Michigan on December 2, 1945 to the late Orville and Nellie (Morgan) Vath. Barry's greatest joy was his family. He leaves behind Joanne (Adamo) Vath his loving wife of 51 years who selflessly took care of him during his final years. Barry also leaves behind his two children: Barry Vath Jr. (Janet Maiorano), and Kris Shaughnessy (Matt); five grandchildren: Joshua (Raelynn), Hayley, and Brandon Vath; Shannon, Shelby, Riley and Clara Shaughnessy; three great-grandchildren: Isabella, Jayclee and Daxon; mother-in-law Alice Green; siblings: Faith Cherry (Lee); Sharyl McCoy; Richard Vath; and Gerald Vath (Cheryl); sisters-in-law: Jean Nankervis; Debbie (Jim) Pobocik; and Gina (Greg) Serges; Bianca (Jason) Leece; Carmen (Matt) Wright; and numerous nieces and nephews. Barry proudly served in the US Navy for two years and loved telling stories of his days in the Navy. He worked at E.I DuPont for 27 years as a mechanic. Upon retirement, he started his own home improvement and home inspection business. Barry could build, fix, repair and design anything and took pride in his precise and beautiful work. Joanne would like to thank McLaren Hospice for helping her with her husband during his final months and for helping make his final departure peaceful and loving. Barry was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Abigail Shaughnessy; brother, Eugene Nankervis; father-in-law, Sam Adamo. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you please make a donation in memory of Barry to the charity of your choice.
