McCLANAHAN, Bard Alan "Skinny" - Age 71, of Birch Run, formerly of Flint, died Saturday, December 16, 2017. A funeral mass will be celebrated 11: 30 AM Thursday, December 21, 2017 at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 2415 Bagley St., Flint. Father Thomas Firestone celebrant. Visitation will be held 2PM-8PM Wednesday, with a scripture service being held at 7pm, at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek. Visitation will also be held 10:30AM until time of mass at the church on Thursday. Those desiring may make contributions to the Old News Boys of Flint. Bard was born December 22, 1945 in Flint, the son of Manford and Dorothy (Keely) McClanahan. He married Bobbie Convis on June 15, 1968 in Flint. Bard enjoyed golfing, fishing, playing the harmonica, playing softball and hunting. What he enjoyed most was spending time with family and friends. He retired in 1995 from General Motors plant 38 with 32 years of service. Bard taught dye theory and construction at Mott Community College for 10 years and was a youth minister at St. John Vianney Catholic Church for 16 years. For many years Bard was a volunteer for the Old News Boys of Flint. Surviving are: wife of 49 years Bobbie of Birch Run; son, Jason (Angela) McClanahan of Birch Run; grandchildren, Ethan and Emma McClanahan of Birch Run: mother, Dorothy McClanahan of Flint. Bard is also survived by siblings, Connie McClanahan of Flint, Bryce (Dianna) McClanahan of Oscoda, JoAnn McClanahan of Flint, Renee (Joseph) Abraham of Fenton, Shawn (Penny) McClanahan of GA, Barbara (Tom) Camarro of Ct, Chris McClanahan of Shelby Twp., Janet McClanahan of Flint; sister-in-law, Betsy (Wayne) Glasco of Flint; brother-in-law, Neuman (Janice) Convis of Davison; many aunts, uncles, nieces , nephews, cousins and many dear friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Manford McClanahan and son, Eric McClanahan in 1987. Online condolences may be posted on the obituaries page of www.sharpfuneralhomes.com.
