Barbara Tankersley

TANKERSLEY, Barbara Jean, age 85 of Flint, passed away peacefully on April 30, 2023.  A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, May 7, 2023 at  Sharp Funeral Homes,  Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek with Pastor Mark Cox officiating.  Visitation will be at the funeral home from 12 PM Sunday until the time of service.  Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Barbara to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (www.stjude.org).

Barbara was born on February 18, 1938 in Flint, Michigan to the late William Mathias and Mary Della (Laster) Whitehead.  She married LeRoy Tankersley on April 2, 1955.  She served as a volunteer at Hurley Hospital for 40 years and at one time was the President of the Hurley Hospital Auxiliary Volunteers.  Barbara had a "green thumb" and especially enjoyed the roses she grew.

She is survived by her son, Kenneth (Samantha) Tankersley of Flint.  Siblings, Carl (Nellie) Whitehead of Auburndale, FL, Jim Whitehead of Oscoda, Pat (John) Rickord of Columbiaville, and Gordie (Christine) Stephenson of Oscoda.  Many nieces and nephew also survive.

Barbara was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, LeRoy.  Siblings, Everett (Nancy) Whitehead, Della (Mabin) Cox, William (Marie) Whitehead, Robert (Judy) Whitehead, Russell (Agatha) Whitehead, Doug Stephenson and Gerald Stephenson.  Three nieces and one nephew.
