Barbara “Barb and Mom” Murphy Reagin
Barbara Reagin who loved to be called “Mom” by her daughter, Susan and son, Michael and “Barb” by her late husband Jim, departed her loving family on April 9, 2021.
Barbara was born in David City, Nebraska on January 19, 1938 to Eunice Noerlinger and Marvin Murphy. Barbara raised her children with love and devotion in Linden, Michigan with her husband James “Jim” Reagin.
As an Administrative Assistant, Barbara was known for her diplomacy, calmness and wit. Her hobbies included loving pets, reading, baking and gardening. She was most proud of raising her two children, being a devoted wife and loving daughter and sister. She is survived by her daughter Susan and son Michael. Aside from the children and her husband, she doted on Sammy her cat who passed in 2018.
We will always remember Barbara Murphy and being charmed by her immediately.
As she would often say, “I’m doing ok, how are you? You take care good care now. Be good.” [A pink flower on a plant Description automatically generated] Barbara loved going out for lunch or dinner. When sitting next to a noisy table, Barbara would say, “I don’t like loud people, do you?”
Days will pass and there will always be a place closest in our hearts remembering Barbara and her sweet smile and gentle personality. May God always watch over her and keep her soul in peace and may she be reunited with her loved ones in heaven.
My Mother's Presence
By Kelly Roper
My mother's presence always warmed our home
With peace and security and love.
She was like a gentle breeze that wafted through
Setting things right, creating a haven for us all.
Whatever problems we had, Mom solved them.
Whatever triumphs we had, Mom celebrated them.
Whatever needs we had, Mom fulfilled them.
Surely such a mother could never drift far
From those she loved with all her heart.
Though she has left her earthly body behind,
I feel her presence still.
Mom remains close to me, she knows my sorrow,
And she enfolds me in invisible arms I can still feel,
And she comforts me.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America can be made in Barbara’s name. Once COVID19 permits larger in person gatherings a ceremony remembering her and her husband James Reagin who passed one year ago will take place.
