Barbara Pertler

PERTLER, Barbara Jean - Our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, age 89, of Gaines, passed away Thursday, December 20, 2018 at her home. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Monday, December 24, 2018 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, our temporary location at Hill Creek Church, 5363 Hill Rd., Swartz Creek. Visitation will be held 4-8 PM Sunday at Hill Creek Church. Those desiring may make contributions to the United Methodist Church. Barbara was born in Gaines, Michigan on August 1, 1929, the daughter of Harold and Mary (Atherton) Pettit. She married Duane Pertler on June 11, 1949; he preceded her in death on March 21, 2018. Barbara worked briefly for Grand Truck Railroad in Durand and later for the 67th District Court in Flint, but her life's passion was for her family, her home and her pies. Through the years she enjoyed fishing and watching baseball with Duane, as well as, spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, spoiling them with cookies, cakes and goodies. She also made birthday's and holiday's extra special. She enjoyed good music, dancing and reading. Those left to cherish her memory are: son, Barry (Beth) Pertler of Gaines; grandchildren, Belinda (Ron) Moore of Walled Lake, Blaine (Leisa) Pertler of Flushing, Brea (Martin) Cooper of Ravenna, Brandi (Kevin) Forbes of Flushing; great-grandchildren, Doug, Katie, Aerin, Aerika, Joe, Nate, Rachel, Kayla, Kylie, Abigail, Sarah and Kaitlyn; brothers-in-law, Don (Joyce) Pertler of Flushing, Ken Pertler of Flint; sister-in-law, Shirley Pertler of St. Johns; plus many nephews and nieces.
