Mitchell, Barbara Jean - Age 91, of Swartz Creek, died December 9, 2020 in East Tawas, Mi. due to Covid 19. No public services will be held. Private interment at Fairview Cemetery, Linden. Arrangements are being handled by Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek. Those desiring may make contributions to Tawas Village Employee Program (dedicated to providing financial support to employees in need.) Barbara was born September 7, 1929 in Detroit the daughter of Edward Emmett Thomas and Beulah Isabel (Cromwell) Thomas. She was a graduate of Holly High School and attended Business School. She married Bruce G. Mitchell on June 10, 1950 in Holly; he preceded her in death August 29, 2009. She worked as a Dental Assistant for Dr. Dan Soloko retiring in 1982. She was a charter member of the Rankin Lioness Club. She was a member of the South Mundy United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women at South Mundy, and sang in their choir. She was a member of TOPS # 1054 of Grand Blanc. Barbara was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend to many. Surviving are: four children, Brian and wife Alberta Mitchell of Swartz Creek, Beth and husband Greg Murray of Fenton, Bonnie and husband Joseph Pike of National City, Bradley and wife Molly Mitchell of Brockport, NY; grandchildren, Matthew and wife Cathy Mitchell of Fenton, Tyler Mitchell of Troy, Weston and wife Joy Mitchell of West Branch, IA, Shawn and wife Tina O'Brien of Linden, Aaron and wife Jennifer O'Brien of Fenton, Kiley and husband Brandon Judge of Fenton, Geoff and wife Samantha Murray of Birmingham, Emilee and wife Molly Pike of Bartlett, IL, Holly and husband Clyde Ylitalo of Owosso, Michael Mitchell of Brockport, NY, William Mitchell of Stamford, CT; great-grandchildren, Jackson, Benjamin, and Ellie Mitchell, Zachary, Lauren, and Lillian O'Brien, Jensen, and Luke O'Brien, Braylen and Kensley Judge, Hope and husband Todd Tury, Ruth Crabtree, Corey Ylitalo, Allison Ylitalo and Ivy Mitchell; brother, Robert Thomas of Fruitland Park Florida; sister, Margaret Thomas of Holly, MI. Special friend Rosemarie Pearsall at Tawas Village. Special thanks to the Tawas Village leadership team and staff for their dedication and commitment to providing compassion and support to the residents of the facility EVERY DAY! They are true Heroes.
