Barbara J. "Barb" Meacham

Barbara J. "Barb" Meacham, age 82, of Flushing, passed away on Saturday, June 22, 2024. A Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, June 26, 2024 at Sunset Hills Cemetery, 4413 Flushing Road in Flushing, Michigan 48504. Barbara was born on November 16, 1941 in Flint, Michigan to the late Louise Hammontre. She graduated from Southwestern High School class of 1960. Those who knew Barbara knew she was a "Homebody"; she enjoyed the comforts of home and never had to travel far to enjoy life. Throughout the years she kept tidy flower beds at the house, painted ceramic figurines, crocheted, and in later years picked up the hobby of coloring, and jigsaw puzzles. Barbara had a soft spot in her heart for animals and was currently caring for a clowder of cats on their land and had many beloved dogs throughout her life. Above all she will be dearly missed by her family.

Barbara is survived by her loving husband, Larry; daughter, Marcie (David) Louton; three grandchildren, Shaina (Frank) Lang, Daniel Louton and Annie (Karl Gibson) Louton; brother-in-law, Gaston “GC”; sister-in-law Linda, and her husband Larry’s children Wayne and Seth Owens. She is further survived by several nieces, nephews and other dear family members.

In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by, her grandmother Dimple (Roscoe) Caplinger, her aunt Frances (Verl) Garrison, her brother and his wife, GW “Bill” (Betty) Hammontre; sister-in-law, Sandra Beaushaw, and Larry’s daughter, Susan. 

Her furry canine companions that also preceded her were her German Shepherd Mocha, Muffett and Paddy, both toy poodles, Baba, a Lhasa Apso, Mudgie, Schnauzer, and a cat named Fuzzy.
