Barbara Columbine Genovesi, age 91, of Swartz Creek, passed away peacefully at her home on December 22, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Born on May 26, 1933, in Twining, Michigan, Barbara was the cherished daughter of John Carlton and Eveline Irene (Masher) Walker. She married Joseph Dante Genovesi, Sr. on March 12, 1949, in Flint, sharing 60 wonderful years of marriage before his passing on October 23, 2013. Barbara was a deeply devout member of St. Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Swartz Creek, where she actively participated in church activities and prayed the rosary twice daily. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life. Her gentle spirit and nurturing nature extended to her role as a loving mother of ten children and a special grandmother to her grandchildren whom she lovingly raised. Barbara's kindness, thoughtfulness, and unwavering support made a lasting impact on everyone around her. She taught her family the importance of love and laughter, demonstrating selflessness and warmth through her actions. She enjoyed the simple pleasures in life, such as reading, doing word searches, and assembling puzzles alongside her family. A devoted cat owner, she often took peaceful afternoon naps on her couch with her beloved cat, Mia. Barbara is survived by her ten children: Linda Traylor (Bill), Kathleen Genovesi, Joseph Genovesi II (Dawn), Tony Genovesi (Crys), Angelo Genovesi (Susan), Mary Brasher (Dan Rowe), Mario Genovesi, Delano Genovesi (Bonnie), Geno Genovesi (Julie Leonard), and Monica Genovesi. She treasured her legacy, which includes 18 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and two special grandchildren on the way; brother, John Walker (Tami) of FL. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Joseph Dante Sr., son-in-law Joseph Brasher, daughters-in-law Melody Genovesi and Ronda Genovesi, and granddaughter Amy Martin. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 AM on Friday, December 27, 2024, at St. Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church, with Fr. Roy Horning as celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Mary Cemetery in Swartz Creek. Visitation will take place from 2-8 PM on Thursday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, with a rosary prayer at 6 PM. Additional visitation will be from 10 AM to 11 AM Friday at the church. In honor of Barbara's memory, contributions can be made to St. Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church for Masses.
