BLACKMER, Barbara June ï¿Â½" of Casa Grande, Arizona, formerly of Linden, age 79, died May 14, 2010 in Casa Grande, AZ, where she had lived for the last 11 years. Barb wanted to give back to the medical community for all that they have done for her over the years to give her the best quality of life possible, she donated her body to science and medical research in the hope it would help others. Memorial service will be 11:00 am, Saturday, July 31, 2010 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Linden Chapel, 209 E. Broad St., Linden. Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday until time of service. Interment to follow at Fairview Cemetery. Barb was born May 2, 1931 in Flint, Michigan. She was the 3rd daughter of Lon and Myrtle (Lilly) Lineberry. She graduated from Flint Central, class of 1949. Barb was a telephone operator at Bell and McClaren Hospital. Then she worked at General Motors in the mailroom from where she retired. After retirement she had her own business selling Mary Kay Cosmetics. She was also an active member of Gold Star Wives as well as the Ladies VFW Auxillary. She had an infectious personality and was loved by everyone she met. She married Lewis Dean Blackmer on October 11, 1952. Dean died on May 25, 1975. Barb's father told his children that is wasn't the things that happen to you in life that mattered it was the way that you handled them that truly mattered. And no one handled things with more grace and dignity than Barb. Survivors include two daughters, Barbie and Scott Elliott of Casa Grande, AZ; Cheryl and Steven Adams of Hinesville, GA; a son Brad and Melissa of Casa Grande, AZ; Daughter-in-law Donna Blackmer of Mesa, AZ; Dee Zupon of Chandler, AZ; sister Joan (Toni) Wright of Linden, MI. Long time companion Wilbur Goudy and his two daughters, Steffeny Linn of Tampa, FL and Judy Howell of Grand Blanc, MI; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and many, many friends. She was proceeded in death by her husband Dean and a much loved son Clif; her parents and two sisters, Thelma McConnell and Wilma Hampton; also a wonderful step mother Mildred Lineberry. In lieu of flowers Barb had said she wished for donations to be made to one of her three favorite charities: Arizona Humane Society or No-Kill Shelter; Alzheimer's Association or the American Cancer Society.
