Asa C. ROOT

ROOT, Asa C., age 89 of Flint Twp., died at home, Saturday, March 27, 2010. He was born in Flint, February 28, 1921 the son of Bethel and Pauletta (Crocker) Root. A lifelong resident of the area, he married Leona June Sawyer February of 1945. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, a former member of the Lennon Methodist Church and retired from Horn's Body shop after 20 years. Surviving are his wife June; 4 children, Jacqueline Bolt (Ray) of Flushing, Janet Wetherell (Rod) of Florida, Keith Root (Debra) of Flushing and Gayle Hadley (Jim) of Grand Blanc. Also surviving are 6 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, 4 sisters, 2 brothers and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Gary and 4 brothers and 2 step-brothers. A memorial service will be 3:00 P.M. Tuesday, March 30, 2010 at the Sharp Funeral Home, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek. Pastor Pat Stybert will officiate. Asa's family will welcome visitation at the funeral home on Tuesday from 1:00 to 4:00 P.M. Memorial contributions in Mr. Root's name may be offered to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.
