Artyce May MARSHAN

May 18, 1925 — April 23, 2009

MARSHAN, Artyce May - Age 83, of Midland, formerly of Swartz Creek, passed away Thursday, April 23, 2009 at Tendercare in Midland. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:30 AM Monday, April 27, 2009 at St. Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church, Swartz Creek. Fr. Steven Mattson celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery. Visitation will be held 1-4 & 6-9 PM Sunday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek and from 9:30 AM until the time of Mass Monday at the church. A vigil service will be held 7 PM Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials suggested to local animal shelters and rescue organizations. Artyce was born in Detroit, MI on May 18, 1925 to the late Emery Joseph and Catherine (Phillips) Metz. She married Henry D. Marshan in 1945 and after 40 years of marriage he predeceased her in April 1986. We have so many memories, so many stories to comfort us in our loss. As a child, she tap-danced among circus elephants. She was a telephone/switch-board operator in Detroit and Flint, and retired after 10 years as a school bus driver for Swartz Creek Schools. Artyce was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and participated in the choir, 50 & Over Club and Altar Society. Artyce and Henry were avid bowlers in many Flint area leagues and enjoyed their retirement on Barnes Lake with many special friends and neighbors. Artyce is survived by her loving family. Daughter, Christine & Steve Greve of Midland, their daughters, Jennifer and Michael Wheeler of Milton, VT, Rebecca Greve of Haslett; great-granddaughter, Emerson Christine Wheeler; son, Anthony Marshan; grandchildren, Daniel, Melissa, Tony and April. She was loved like a sister by sister-in-law, Rosemond Marshan and cousin, Dorothy Schwartz. Aunty Bubbles will be remembered by special nieces and nephews and their families. Artyce was predeceased by her parents; her husband; brother-in-law, Chris Marshan; nephew, Charlie Brookins.
