Arthur "Jim" James Philp, age 76, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, March 26, 2024. A visitation gathering will take place from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Monday, April 1, 2024 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek. Cremation will follow with burial taking place at a later date at Great Lakes National Cemetery. A memorial service will be announced at a later date to take place at the Coleman Veterans Memorial in Coleman, MI. In Lieu of flowers, those desiring may direct memorial contributions the Wounded Warriors Project.
Jim was born on January 12, 1948 in Colman the son of the late Carl and Bertha (Burton) Philp. He graduated class of 1966 from Coleman High School. Jim proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War until his honorable discharge. He worked for many years at Vemco in manufacturing and as plant manager. Following Vemco, he continued work for Fuji Photography in delivery service until his retirement. Jim loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was a member of NRA and enjoyed camping, fishing and collecting baseball cards.
He is survived by his loving children, Angie Motes and her fiancé Thomas Bonham, Dustin Philp and Darrin (Nicole) Philp; grandchildren, Connor, Matthew, Delany, Ella, Natalie and Lincoln; mother of his children, Diane Primm; sister, Jeanne (Jim) Ordiway; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his sisters, Beverly Philp, Sharon Monroe and Marilyn Kay Philp. Tributes may be shared at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com
