WALKER, Arlene Lenore - Age 87, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, on October 12, 2008. Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM Saturday, October 18, 2008 at Sharp Funeral Home, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Road, Fenton. Wayne B. Willer officiating. Burial immediately following at Sunset Hills Cemetery, Flint. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 4-6 PM Friday. Arlene was born and raised in Nebraska. Arlene spent most of her adult life as a resident of Flint, upon her marriage to the late John R. Walker. She also lived for some time on Orcas Island, WA, with her final years as a resident of Maple Manor in Ontonagon. Arlene died at Maple Manor, after a long battle with Parkinson's disease. Arlene spent some time as a teacher, before her marriage, and then became a full time wife and mother; she later studied and became a nurse. During her nursing career she was employed by McLaren General Hospital, and also by Dr. Woodrow Pickering. She was an active member of several churches during her time in Flint. Arlene was an avid reader, loved to garden and enjoyed traveling. Preceded her in death are her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ora Hall, and four brothers. Arlene is survived by her five children: John (Judy) Walker of Lancaster, OH, Ken (Jo) Walker of Orcas Island, WA, J. Stephen (Linda) Walker of Chesterton, IN, Vicky (Ed) Dooley of Fenton, and Cindy (Wayne) Willer of Battle Creek. Also surviving are 14 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.
