SHELL, Arlene Anna - Age 91, of Flint, died Saturday, December 4, 2010 at McLaren Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Friday, December 10, 2010 at Sharp Funeral Homes, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek, with Pastor Don Smith officiating. Burial immediately following in Crestwood Cemetery, Grand Blanc. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Wednesday from 6-8 PM and Thursday from 1-4 and 6-8 PM. An American Legion Memorial Service will be held 7:00 PM Thursday at the funeral home. Those desiring may make contributions to the American Cancer Society. Arlene was born October 4, 1919 in Caledona, the daughter of Edwin Michael and Clara (Veneman) Karrer. She was a 1938 graduate of Swartz Creek High School. She married Fern C. Shell May 23, 1941 in Swartz Creek and he preceded her in death March 7, 2005. Mrs. Shell was a member and past president of the American Legion Auxiliary Buick Post #310. She was past treasurer of the Flint Council of the American Legion Auxiliary where she had worked bingo for many years. Surviving are: son, Gary and wife Linda Shell of Lennon; 2 granddaughters, Jodi and husband Dale Dorr of Davison and Traci Shell of Lennon; 2 great grandchildren, Angela and husband Zachary Stephenson of Lapeer and Christopher Dorr of Davison; brother, Edwin John "Jack" Karrer of Swartz Creek; sister-in-law, Bernice Mulcahy of Swartz Creek; brother-in-law, Leo McManus of Swartz Creek; several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her parents; son, Charles Shell; sister, Maxine McManus; sister-in-law, Kathryn Karrer; brother-in-law, Francis "Jerry" Mulcahy.
