Arlene V. O'Brien

Arlene V. O'Brien, age 85, life resident of Swartz Creek, passed away on Thursday, August 3, 2023. Visitation will be held at 11am until the time of the Funeral Service at 1pm on Thursday, August 10, 2023, at Sharp Funeral Home - Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road in Swartz Creek. Arlene will be laid to rest with her late husband Harold, at Crestwood Cemetery in Grand Blanc. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Arlene's name to the Swartz Creek Senior Center. Arlene was born on August 22, 1937, in Swartz Creek to the late Joseph & Frances Cajka. She graduated in 1955 from Durand High School. Arlene retired as executive secretary from McLaren Hospital after thirty-three years of employment. In their younger years Arlene and Harold went camping and traveling. Together they also enjoyed dates to movies, listening to music and dancing. In recent years Arlene looked forward to trips to casinos and gatherings at the Swartz Creek Senior Center, where she and Harold coordinated trips. She was talented at sewing and crochet. She was an avid reader by her own admission getting "lost" in books once she began them. A small unknown fact about Arlene was how much she got into Football; once football season came around Arlene made sure to watch all the games. Above all her fondest memories where those spent with her family.

Arlene is survived by her sister, Frances Vacik; nieces and caretakers, Shelley (Ken) McGeathy and Sue (Rick) Mitchell and nephew, Dennis (Diane) Vacik. She is further survived by many other dear nieces and nephews, numerous great nieces & nephews, and great great-nieces & nephews. She also leaves behind many other family members and friends too numerous to list but never forgotten.

In addition to her parents Joseph & Frances, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harold in 2018.
