Ardis Sawyer

SAWYER, Ardis - Age 81, of Linden, went to be with her Lord peacefully in her own home, surrounded by her daughter and a dear friend of Ardis on Sunday, January 3, 2016. Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Friday, January 8, 2016 at Linden Free Methodist Church, 13274 Linden Road, Linden. Pastor Dan Shinabarger officiating. Burial in Fairview Cemetery, Linden. Visitation will be held at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Road, Fenton Thursday from 2-8 PM and at church Friday from 11:00 AM until the time of service. Those desiring may make contributions to Linden Free Methodist Church or Residential Hospice. Ardis was born in Lansing on November 20, 1934 to Kenneth and Mildred (Bidwell) Dravenstatt. She was a graduate of Sexton High School. Ardis married G. Robert Sawyer (Preacher Bob) on June 10, 1955. She served with her husband at Free Methodist churches in St. Johns, Bad Axe, Dansville, Bay City, Linden, Oxford, Owosso, Clio, and Mayville. Upon retirement they returned to Linden where Ardis was a member of the Linden Free Methodist Church. She was well known for her singing, serving in the nursery, working in the kitchen in the local schools, as well as serving in the church kitchen, working for Wee Care Daycare, and her gift of hospitality. Throughout their years of ministry Ardis was always quick to help in any capacity needed. Those who cherish her memory include her daughter, Cinda; daughter-in-law, Regina; grandchildren, Kelly (Matt) Rubelman, Jason Sawyer, and Jessica (Joey) Lynch; great grandchildren, Ryan and Ethan Rubelman, Zachary Sawyer, and Noah Lynch; sisters-in-law, Betty Graves and Sandra (Bill) Buhro; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, as well as many family by choice. Ardis was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Gerald R. Sawyer, Jr.; and sister and brother-in-law, Beverly and Kenneth McNeilly.
