ALWARD, Ardena Gail - Age 87, of Gaines, died Monday, December 21, 2009 at St. Mary's Hospital, Livonia. Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Sunday, December 27, 2009 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek, with Pastor Thomas Dunseth officiating. Burial at Christian Memorial Cultural Center, Rochester Hills. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Saturday from 1-4 and 6-9 PM and Sunday from 2:00 PM until time of service. Mrs. Alward was born September 14, 1922 in Lima, OH, the daughter of Dale and Noami (Deffenbaugh) Stevick. She married Robert F. Alward November 19, 1966 in Lansing. She has resided in Gaines for the past 38 years. Mrs. Alward was a member of Christ the King Lutheran Church in Flint, the Flint Association of the Deaf and the Communication Access Center. Surviving are: husband, Robert F.; granddaughter, Tracey Nelson of Belleville; grandson, Bryan Smith of Lansing; 4 great grandchildren, Kenny, Alison, Jason and Isabell; sister, Barbara Cromly of Wayne; best friend, Virginia Moore of Burton.
