Anthony RASMOVICH

RASMOVICH, Anthony P. (Tony) - Age 91, of Fenton, died Thursday, August 6, 2009 at Argentine Care Center. He was born in Nashua, New Hampshire, April 21, 1918 graduated from Nashua Hish School where he was a track star. He went to Ohio State University on a full scholarship, then transfered to Eastern Michigan University to receive BA and MA degrees. While at Eastern he set the N.A.I.A. record for the Javelin. His record stood for 19 years. He was inducted into the E.M.U. Track & Field Hall of Fame. He had lived in the Fenton area since 1955. He married Ann Marie Courtney in Detroit on November 22, 1945. Mr. Rasmovich was a veteran of the U.S. Naval Air Corps and was a decorated W.W.II pilot with over 200 combat missions in the South Pacific theater of operations. He retired as a Lt. Commander. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Tony taught 42 years at Flint Northern High School. He was the athletic trainer his entire career. Tony took over the duties as the ticket manager for all Northern High athletic events until 2006. Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Ann Marie; three sons, Thomas A. Rasmovich (Janet), Michael P. Rasmovich and John J. Rasmovich (Debbie); one daughter, Mary Ann Sloan (Michael); 8 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; sister, Virginia Walsh (Preston); and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Rasmovich wss preceded in death by his parents and 4 brothers. A Memorial Mass will be 11:00 A.M. Monday, August 10, 2009 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 600 N. Adelaide St., Fenton, Rev. Fr. David Harvey officiating. The family will receive visitors at the Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Rd., Fenton on Sunday August 9, 2009 from 3:00 to 8:00 P.M. Memorial contributions may be offered for St. John's School.
