Ann Marie STURK

February 26, 1956 — January 24, 2010

STURK, Ann Marie (Hoydic), "The Queen of Everything", age 53 died at Avalon Hospice on Sunday, January 24, 2010. Ann lost her fight with pancreatic and liver cancer after being diagnosed September 18, 2009. Born February 26, 1956 in Flint, Ann was Patricia and Robert Hoydic's first of six children. She lived in Bridgeport and Livonia and graduated from Grand Blanc High School in 1974. During high school, Ann worked at the A&W in Grand Blanc and met the love of her life. On October 17, 1975 she and Ryan Sturk were married. Ryan was in the Air Force and they were stationed in Japan in 1976-1977 and San Antonio, TX in 1978. They came back to Flint in 1978 and started their family. Kelly was born in 1980 and 13 months later Kari was born. The family moved to Grand Blanc in 1981 then in 1992 they built their beautiful home on Lobdell Lake in Fenton. Ann graduated from St. Joseph Hospital in Flint in 1980 as a Registered Radiographer. She began her x-ray career at St. Joseph Hospital until St. Joseph merged with Genesys Health Park in Grand Blanc and Ann began working there. She was very close with her co-workers, who were like extended family to her. It didn't take long to earn the nickname "Queen of Everything" by everyone with whom she worked. Ann will be especially remembered for her quick wit and sense of humor. You could always count on her to be the life of the party. She loved to entertain and hosted parties at their house on the lake for any and every occasion possible. Husband Ryan became known as The Bodyguard right after Ann's diagnosis. You would never see Ann without Ryan. He was constantly at her side trying to do anything and everything he could to help her be more comfortable. He even learned to do her hair, which as all her friends knew, was very important to Ann. Of Ann's countless friends, her daughters, Kelly and Kari were her best friends. There was a special friendship and bond not often seen between mothers and daughters. Son-in-law Ryan Anspaugh, was also extremely close to Ann. Kelly and Ryan's daughter, Abby "The Dab" held a very special place in Ann's heart, being her first grandchild. Abby appropriately called her 'GaGa', which Ann says was short for Grandma Goddess. Survivors include loving husband, Ryan Sturk; children, Kelly (Ryan) Anspaugh, and Kari Sturk, both of Fenton; precious grandchild, Abby Anspaugh; parents, Patricia and Robert Hoydic of Fenton; sisters, Susan Sharpe of Flint, Mary Ellen Houston of Houston, TX, Trisha Allen of Dallas, TX; and brother, Paul Hoydic of Austin, TX and several nephews and nieces. Ann was preceded in death by her brother, Mathew Hoydic. Funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, January 28, 2020 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Road, Fenton, Michigan. Visitation at the funeral home will be on Wednesday from 11 AM to 8 PM with a Rosary at 7 PM. Memorial donations may be made to Meals on Wheels.
