Ann Czmer

Ann Kathleen Czmer, age 77, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, friend, volunteer, artist, seamstress, educator, and woman with a matching belt for every outfit passed to her next life on April 1, 2023.

Ann was born on August 10, 1945 in Ann Arbor, Michigan to Jack and Jane (Warner) Metcalf and was their treasured, only child. Ann grew up in Tecumseh, Michigan and spent her summers at the family cottage on Devils Lake. It was on this lake where she met the love of her life, Dan, who lived two cottages down. Ann graduated from Tecumseh High School in 1963 and attended Adrian College where she was named the best dressed student on campus by Vogue magazine. She ultimately graduated from Eastern Michigan University with a teaching degree in 1967. Ann and Dan were married in December of 1966 and were blessed with three children - Matt, Katie, and Susan. Ann was a dedicated and loving mom who sewed amazing Halloween costumes, drove on all of the field trips and to all of the practices, watched every game and meet, and made it a point to really know and support her kids, grandkids, and their friends. She loved living on the lake, and nothing delighted her more than spending the day with all of her kids and grandkids cooking out, playing in the water, and just being together. Ann also enjoyed spending time with her friends and never turned down a lunch, shopping trip or book club meeting.

Throughout her life, it was very important to Ann to give back to her community. She was a very active member of Junior Women’s and the St. Robert’s Guild in Flushing for many years. After moving to Linden in 2008, Ann and Dan were members of St. Rita’s Catholic Church in Holly. Ann was a regular volunteer at their Food Pantry and Clothes Closet and was also a regular at the Zumba class. They became parishioners of St. John Fenton in 2022.

Ann is survived by her husband of 56 years, Dan Czmer; her children: Matt (Julie) Czmer, Katie (Frank Wray) Kool-Wray, and Susan (Fred) Owen; her grandchildren: Megan, Nick, Lauren, and Matthew Czmer; AJ and Nevi Kool; and Seth & Trenton Schrader. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Jane Metcalf.

A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, April 12, 2023 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 600 N. Adelaide Street, Fenton, MI with a lunch immediately following at the church's community center. Visitation will be from 3:00 PM - 7 PM Tuesday, April 11, 2023, with a Vigil Service at 6:00 PM, at the Sharp Funeral Home, 209 E. Broad Street, Linden, MI and 10:00 AM Wednesday until the time of service at the church. Ann loved colors, and in her honor, we ask that you consider wearing colorful clothing to celebrate her life.
