AMTHOR, Amy Kay - age 58, of Fenton, died Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at Genesee Care Center. Funeral services will be held 1 PM Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 W. Silver Lake Rd., Fenton. Visitation will be held 2-4 and 6-9 PM Monday and 12 PM - 1 PM Tuesday at the funeral home. Amy loved animals and those desiring may make memorial contributions to Adopt-A-Pet of Fenton, 13575 N. Fenton Rd., Fenton (www.adoptapetfenton.com). Amy was born July 7, 1958 in Flint, the daughter of William and Carol (Grimes) Amthor. She married Mark Shaffer on April 2, 1982. Amy was a talented artist, most recently running two Etsy shops. She loved gardening, nature, antiquing, and reading. Her wonderful sense of humor, thoughtfulness, and colorful storytelling put people at ease. She is survived by her husband, Mark Shaffer; two children, Teal Amthor-Shaffer and husband, Ryan Eliasek of Lansing, Bryce Amthor-Shaffer and wife, Ashley of Ypsilanti; mother, Carol Amthor of Linden; three sisters, Marliss Gulick and Ron Collie of OH, Kim Amthor of Marquette, and Patricia Oxley and husband, Steve of Fenton; brother-in-law, Kevin Shaffer of GA; sister-in-law, Jeryl Smith and husband, John of CA; many nieces and nephews.
