HICKS, Amie Jo - Age 48, of Ortonville, passed away Sunday, December 10, 2023. A memorial gathering will be held Sunday, December 17, 2023 from 12-4 PM at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek. Those desiring may make contributions to the Michigan Reading Association, the Cardinals Care Fund, or the Davison Education Foundation.
Amie was born July 29, 1975 in Flint, the daughter of Jack Wagner and Brenda (Mitchell). She was a 1994 graduate of Swartz Creek High School and she received Bachelor's and Master's Degrees in Education from The University of Michigan, Flint. She married Michael John Hicks in 2010 and they enjoyed 27 years together. She was a teacher at Davison Community Schools where she shared her passion for reading with countless students.
In addition to her love of teaching and reading, Amie enjoyed spending time in nature. She could often be found walking, hiking, and camping with her family and dog, Ruby, where she loved to admire the scenery and wildlife. She also had fun going out to eat and playing cornhole with her friends.
Surviving are: her husband, Michael Hicks of Ortonville; daughter, Haley Hicks of Ortonville; parents, Jack and Brenda Wagner of Swartz Creek; brothers, Travis Wagner of Swartz Creek and Ian Wagner of California; grandmother, Floria Crewse of Swartz Creek; in-laws, Steve and Jane Hicks of Ortonville; brothers-in-law, Steve (Lori) Hicks of Ortonville and John Hicks of Lapeer; several nieces and nephews; and many friends, students, and fellow teachers.
