TORREY, Alvin William Sr. 'Tiny', age 76 of Fenton, died Monday, July 25, 2005 at home. Funeral service will be 2PM Thursday, July 28, 2005 at Sharp Funeral Homes. Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Rd., Fenton. Minister Keith McAra officiating. Veterans honors will be performed under the auspices of V.F.W. Curtis-Wolverton Post #3243. Interment in Great Lakes National Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be held Tuesday 1-4 and 6-8PM and Wednesday 2-5 and 7-9PM at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the family. Alvin was born July 15, 1929 in Fenton the son of Ross and Viola (Lord) Torrey. He married Bertha Swedorske-Cox on May 16, 1952 in Angola, IN. Alvin worked for Atlas Technology and was a Deputy Sheriff for Marine Patrol. He served in the U.S. Army and was a life long member of V.F.W. Curtis-Wolverton Post #3243 . Alvin was a joke teller, a real comedian who genuinely loved people and would often show them by mowing their lawn. Surviving are his loving wife of 53 years, Bertha; 5 children, Janet Manley of Burton, Gary Cox (Kathy) of Argentine, Alvin W. Torrey II 'Tiny' (Kerri) of TN, Angel Torrey-Tennant of Fenton, Diane Walker (Fred) of Fenton; 14 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; brother Bob Torrey (Maxine) of CA; sisters, Betty Tryon of Clio, Barbara Jean Miller of Fenton, Carol Onore of Grand Blanc; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Doyle 'Butch' Torrey; sister Marilyn Land.
