Mr. Alton "Al" Wagner of Fenton, age 91, passed away peacefully October 10, 2020. He was preceded in death by his parents Edward and Lydia Wagner; sister Marion Ingersoll; and daughter Sherry Wagner. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Dona Wagner; children Wayne (Kathryn) Wagner, Nancy (Emil) Sabolish, and Matthew Wagner; grandchildren Krystyn (Gabriel) Perez and Christopher Wagner; and great-grandchildren, Oliver and Abigail Perez.
A native of Flint, Al attended Flint Central High School, graduating in 1947. He served proudly in the National Guard, achieving the rank of Sergeant First Class. Al and Dona met during their high school days, married in 1949, and celebrated their 71st anniversary in August. Following in his father's footsteps, Al was a skilled builder and craftsman by trade. He founded Wagner Homes, and built many beautiful homes throughout the greater Flint area. He was an active member of the Builders Association of Metro Flint for many years, and was named Builder of the Year in 1995. Al was an avid outdoorsman, and enjoyed hunting, fishing, skiing, and golf. Deer camp in November was a favorite of his for 70 years. His children have fond memories of ski trips up north and family vacations, and Al and Dona traveled worldwide during their retirement years.
The family would like to extend special thanks to the kind and caring staff of Vicinia Gardens of Fenton, and The Medical Team Hospice.
A private funeral service will be held at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Road, Fenton. The family welcomes memories and messages to be shared on Al's tribute page at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com
