DRAKE, Alonzo R. - Age 86, of Linden, died Monday, February 19, 2018. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Thursday, February 22 at the Argentine Church of the Nazarene, 16248 S. Seymour Road, Linden. Pastor Daniel Drake, Pastor Tom Hoose, and Pastor Glenn Branham officiating. Interment in Argentine Cemetery. Visitation will be 2-8 PM Wednesday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 W. Silver Lake Road, Fenton; and 10-11 AM Thursday at the church. Alonzo was born July 29, 1931 in Weston, Missouri. He married Margaret Cole on June 14, 1952 in Argentine Township. He earned his bachelor degree in religious education from Central Bible College. The first church he pastored was the Methodist Church in Parshallville. Then in 1960, he started the Fenton Assembly of God which is now the Freedom Center. Following that, he was the Pastor for 13 years for the Burt Assembly of God, then started the Assembly of God in Argentine and was there for 12 years, retiring in 1989. He also retired from General Motors in 1984 with over 30 years of service. Surviving are: his beloved wife of 65 years, Margaret; 6 children, Karen (John) Stephens of Sturgis, MI, Daniel (Mary Alice) Drake of Houston, TX, Larry (Awilda) Drake of Lawrenceburg, TN, Patricia (Glenn) Branham of Nashville, MI, Andrew (Ruth) Drake of Tulsa, OK, and Gail (Joe) Willoughby of Linden; 20 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 2 half sisters, Margaret Roberts and Marie McKinney; half brother, William LaMar; many nieces and nephews; and many extended family members. He was preceded in death by his: father, Fred Clinton Drake; mother, Esther (Lockard) Drake LaMar; 3 half sisters; 6 half brothers; sister, MaryAnn McKinney; and brother, Cecil Drake.
