Alma Louise SIMPSON

SIMPSON, A. Louise - Age 84, of Linden, died Sunday, January 16, 2011. Funeral services will be held 1 PM Thursday, January 20, 2011 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Linden Chapel, 209 E. Broad St., Linden. Rev. Dan Lashley will officiate. Visitation will be held from 11 AM until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages contributions to St. Jude Children's Hospital. Louise was born April 25, 1926 in Piggott, AR, the daughter of Jesse James and Martha Alma (Dycus) Coomer and was a 1946 graduate of Piggott High School. She was married to Leonard Simpson on April 27, 1946; he preceded her in death on April 24, 2000. Mrs. Simpson was a published songwriter and poet. She was known in the community for volunteering her talents as a musician, providing her ministry to nursing homes and churches. Surviving are: children, L. Waynette and husband Earl Gass, Keenan and wife Ruth Ann Simpson, Kenton and wife Dorlaine Simpson; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; special friends, Jan and Marsha Bowman, Bea Conarty, Jean Walsmey; sister, Pheba Wright; brother, Rual and wife Maudie Coomer.
