Allan Cislo

December 28, 1948 — June 18, 2014

CISLO, Allan David - of Boyne City, formerly of Fenton, died June 18, 2014 after a long illness. Memorial Mass will be celebrated 11 AM Saturday, June 28, 2014 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 600 N. Adelaide St., Fenton. The family will receive friends from 1-8 PM Friday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Rd., Fenton. At Al's request, cremation has taken place. Al was born December 28, 1948 in Detroit, son of Alfred and Virginia Cislo. His wonderful mix of all around great guy with a tinge of rebel began at an early age where he achieved the rank of Eagle Scout but was expelled from the altar boys for sampling the wine. He served in the US Army, grabbing the attention of his superiors with his expert sharp-shooting skills, but chose instead to care for wounded soldiers at Walter Reed Hospital and flying in medical evacuation teams to and from Viet Nam. He earned degrees in Respiratory Therapy (Washtenaw Community College), Health Care Administration (BS, University of Detroit-Mercy), and Public Administration (MS, Central Michigan University). He was employed by Flint Osteopathic Hospital/Genesys Health System for thirty years in a variety of administrative positions, retiring as a Director of the Genesys Health Foundation. Throughout his career, Al was known for his friendliness, great sense of humor and superior customer service abilities. His easy going banter and infectious smile could lighten spirits, brighten the darkest days, and close the deal. Left to cherish his memory are wife, Pam; daughters Meredith Weldon (Adam) and Jennifer Baiza (Tomas); grandchildren Carter, Taelyn, and newest additions Eleanor Cate and Neil Allan; special aunt and uncle, Joan and Tom Cherry; many cousins, in-laws, nieces, nephews and dear friends. His family wishes to thank the caregivers at Karmanos Cancer Center and McLaren Northern Michigan for their outstanding care. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Al's memory to Karmanos Cancer Center Joseph Dresner Clinic for Hematologic Malignancies. Al lived by the words "you show who you are by how you treat other people". His joy and laughter will be remembered by all who knew him and his imprint will be felt by many forever.
