Alice Shepherd

Lake Fenton

SHEPHERD, Alice Faye - dedicated wife, mother of three, and friend of many took her journey to our heavenly father on November 10th, 2022 at the age of 84 in Lake Fenton, Michigan. A memorial service will be held 1 PM Thursday, December 1, 2022 at Lake Fenton United Methodist Church 2581 N. Long Lake Rd. Fenton, MI., Pastor Vincent Slocum officiating. The family will receive friends from 11 AM - 1 PM Thursday, December 1, 2022 at the church. In lieu of flowers those desiring may make contributions to Arbor Hospice or the Loose Center. Alice was born to Goldie and Ed Johnson on May 8th, 1938 in Flint, Michigan. In the early 1950’s Alice's family relocated to Lake Fenton, Michigan where in the 8th grade she met the love of her life Vic Shepherd. Five years later Vic and Alice married and would spend the next 66 years building a beautiful life. Alice and Vic welcomed three children together, Michael in 1956, Victor Jr. in 1958, and Shari in 1968. Through the years Alice enjoyed woodworking and traveling with her husband, cooking and baking for friends and family, and making friends wherever she went. Alice was a stranger to no one and found great purpose sharing in the successes and joys of those around her. Alice was wholeheartedly there for those in her life. Some of Alice’s greatest triumphs in life were working with her husband and his brother  at the family business Shepherd's Gas Station and Snowmobile Shop, as a bookkeeper along with many other jobs to help further the business. She was also proud of going through beauty school as well as her catering business. Alice was very prominent in her community, volunteering at the Lake Fenton United Methodist church as part of the women's society, being involved in the athletic boosters at Lake Fenton schools and starting the first Project Graduation. She also enjoyed her years working at the Hurley Cancer institute, as she was a cancer survivor. Although she loved working in her community some of the greatest joys surrounding Alice’s life were spending time with her family and grandchildren. Alice was preceded in death by her mother and father Goldie and Ed Johnson; brother James Johnson; sister Maxine “Demple” Morris; as well as her eldest son Michael B Shepherd. She is survived by her husband, Vic Shepherd; their children Shari Gillespie and husband Mitchell Gillespie; Victor Shepherd Jr and wife Lynne Shepherd; as well as their grandchildren Alyssa Gillespie, Braydon Gillespie, Vance Shepherd, and Taryn Shepherd. She is also leaving behind her beloved dog Sophia, and grand-dogs Vinny, Jack, and Bella.

Her heart of this world may have failed, but her spirit was stubbornly strong:
When peace, like a river attendeth my way
When sorrow like sea billows roll;
Whatever my lot, Thou has taught me to say,
It is well, it is well, with my soul.
