CORMIER, Alfred 'Armand' -- Age 80, of Byron, died February 17, 2009 at St. Joseph Mercy Livingston Hospital, Howell. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:30 AM Saturday, February 21, 2009 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 600 N. Adelaide St., Fenton, Fr. Robert McKeon celebrant. Interment in St. Joseph Cemetery, Gaines. Visitation will be 5-9 PM Thursday, 2-9 PM Friday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Rd., Fenton, and 9:30 AM until the time of mass at the church on Saturday. A Vigil service will be held 7 PM Friday evening at the funeral home followed by a Knights of Columbus service at 7:30 PM. Those desiring may make contributions to the St. Joseph Catholic Church Gaines Building Fund. Mr. Cormier was born July 24, 1928 in Detroit the son of Alfred J. and May H. (Thibodeau) Cormier. He was married to Arlene Schrott on October 1, 1949 at St. Rita's in Detroit. He had resided in Byron since 1982 coming from Hazel Park. He was graduate of St. Mary's High School in Royal Oak, a veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard, and a graduate of U of D with an engineering degree. Mr. Cormier retired from Uniroyal Tire Company (now Michelin.) He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Gaines, and active as a lay person in the church. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus 12186 of Gaines, and The Fenton Assembly 2031. Surviving are: wife Arlene; 10 children, Cherie (Steven) Jankowski, Fred (Peggy), Liane (Kenny) Kemp, all of Hazel Park, Marie Meadows of Howell, Mark (Cindy) of Madison Heights, Chris (Monica) of Royal Oak, Carol (Pat) Scott of Gaylord, Bruce of Royal Oak, Andrea (Paul) Zissler of Dexter, Robert of Fenton; 29 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren; brother, Wally (Doris) of Hazel Park.
