Alfred Arnold

Arnold, Alfred Louis - Age 85, of  Burton, died February 1, 2020. Funeral services will be held 12 Noon Thursday, February 6 at Sharp Funeral Home and Cremation Center,  6063 Fenton Road, Flint. Visitation will be held 10 AM until the time of service Thursday. Those desiring may make contributions to Food Bank of Eastern Michigan. Alfred was born December 18, 1934 in Saginaw, Michigan, the son of Arthur F. and Theol M. Arnold. He graduated from Saginaw High School in 1953 as class Valedictorian. He attended Michigan State University from 1953-1958 studying Electrical Engineering. He was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon social fraternity at MSU. He was employed at A.C. Spark Plug  1958-1961 as an electrical engineer working in equipment for inertially guided ballistic missiles. He did graduate work at both MSU and U of M. In 1961 he transferred to General Motors Institute retiring in 1992 as Professor of Electrical Engineering. He was a director of Eta Kappa Nu, the National Electrical Engineering Honor Society. He was a consultant at the General Motors Technical Center in Warren for seventeen years. He enjoyed reading, fishing, and duck hunting. He was married to dear Joyce O. Sandersfield who passed away in 1998. He was also preceded in death by his brother Arthur F. Arnold Jr.  Surviving are: his lovely wife Dolores Roat-Arnold; sister Theol M. (Tom) Wasco; daughter Kay E. (Dennis) Ballen; four sons, Michael E. (Beth), Steven L., Patrick T. (Ruth); and Matthew N.
