Alexander "Ollie" Schimpf, age 92, of Flushing, passed away on Wednesday, February 8, 2023. Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 17, 2023 starting at 9:30 AM until the time of the Memorial Service at 11:00 AM at Faith Missionary Church, 1327 Elms Road in Flint. Inurnment will take place at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan for both Alexander and his wife, Wenona, whom passed away January 11, 2023.
Alexander was born in Saginaw, Michigan on September 14, 1930 to the late Alexander & Lenoa Schaffer Schimpf. Alex graduated from Flint Tech in 1948. In 1949 he hired into General Motors as a machine repair machinist apprentice, and progressed to general foremen in Buick's Factory 12. He retired from General Motors , Buick City in 1987. Alex proudly served his country in the United States Army.
Alex married Wenona Jean Roller in 1957; they resided in Flint and then Flushing where together they raised their four daughters.
Alex is preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Wenona Schimpf; his parents Alexander & Leona Schimpf; his brother, Donald (Lynda) Schimpf; his sister, Dorothy (George) Lasky and his sons-in-law, Gary Kimmel and Dan Rigan.
He is survived by his children, Joleen Rigan, Jenny (Timothy) Peterson, Amy (David) Skrzela and Jane (Jeff) Lloyd; grandchildren, Jessica (Ryan Espy) Skrzela, Matthew (Debra) Kimmel, Michael Rigan, Alexander Lloyd, Emily Lloyd and Andrew Lloyd; sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary Jane Shreve, Lynda (Richard) Leix, Frank (Dorothy) Lee, Patricia (Larry) Cleveland, Terrance (Marilyn) Lee, and many beloved nieces and nephews.
