PROULX, Alexander James - Age 83, of Gaines, passed away April 26, 2022. Funeral Mass will be celebrated10:30 AM Saturday, April 30, 2022 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 9450 Duffield Road, Gaines. Visitation will be at the church from 5-8 PM Friday and 9:30 AM until the time of Mass Saturday. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to St. Luke New Life Center or Capuchin Soup Kitchen.
Alexander was born March 20, 1939 in Syracuse, NY, the son of Alexander and Beatrice (LaRose) Proulx. He was a graduate of St. Cecelia High School. He married Janice Hoffman on April 19, 1958 in Livonia. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving four years, mostly aboard the USS Taconic. He retired in 1997 from the State of Michigan where he worked as a Youth Specialist Supervisor. Alexander was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. As a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Brighton he served as the Parish Council President and was instrumental in starting the Dad's Club. He enjoyed all sports and enjoyed his children and grandchildren's activities.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Janice; children, Timothy (Florence) Proulx, Jeffrey (Michelle) Proulx, Lori (William) Klebba, and Edward (Mariska) Proulx; sisters, Janet Sommers and Shirley Cameron; grandchildren, Katie Harrison, Lindsey Klebba, Christina Proulx, Brianna Proulx, Arianna Proulx, Alexander Proulx, Alexandra Proulx, Brian Proulx, and Benjamin Proulx; great-grandchildren, Alina Carrizales and Rowan Harrison.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and sisters, Lorraine Hodge and Frenchie Lefstad.
