Alexander Godin

GODIN, Alexander John- Age 97, of Swartz Creek, died February Sunday, February 11, 2018. Funeral services will be held 1PM Wednesday, February 14, 2018 , at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek. Father Bill Lugger officiating. Burial will follow in New Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held 11AM until time of service on Wednesday. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions maybe made to the Catholic Charities of Flint. Alexander was born in Calumet, MI, the son of the late Joseph and Cecelia (Grezkovick) Godin. Mr. Godin married Virginia Severena Deiro on November 4, 1944 in Calumet and later moved to Swartz Creek in 1977. Alexander proudly served his country in the U.S. Army as s staff sergeant during WWII. He was employed by General Motors for 32 years as a skilled tradesman. Al was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, fishing and hunting. Surviving are his wife of 73 years, Virginia Godin of Swartz Creek; children, Marilyn Silance of Hershey, MI, Cheryl (Daniel) Warson of Lake City, Kevin (Cynthia) of Fenton; 8 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Marcella Slivka, Dorothy Bolos and brothers, Edmond Godin, Francis Godin and Hillary Godin. Tributes may be made at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com.
