MARTIN, Alberta B., age 95, of Fenton, formerly of Detroit, died January 1, 2019. Funeral Services will be 11 AM Saturday, January 12, 2019 at Fenton United Methodist Church, 119 S. Leroy Street, Fenton. Pastor Jeff Jaggers officiating. Visitation 6-8 PM Friday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Road, Fenton and 10-11 AM on Saturday at the church. Burial in Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make contributions to Loose Senior Center in Linden or the Lake Fenton Schools. Alberta was born August 6, 1923 in Essex, Ontario, Canada the daughter of Albert E. and Alma (Church) Wismer. She married Russell D. Martin on September 28, 1946 in Detroit and he preceded her in death March 18, 2016. She retired in 2014 from Henry Ford Hospital. She was a member of Fenton United Methodist Church. Alberta served on the Lake Fenton Board of Education for 32 years; and had previously served on the Detroit Board of Education. She had served on the Loose Board of Directors for more then 17 years and was Secretary for most of that time. She had served and was past president of the Michigan Association of School Boards. Survivors include her children, Rick (Jan) Martin of Brighton and Cheryl (Kevin) Rose of Brighton; four grandchildren, Jennifer (Matthew) Poplaski of Florida, Ryan (Zerrin) Martin of Pennsylvania, Laura (BJ) Walters of Brighton, and Kristopher Rose of Washington DC; great-grandchildren, Parker and Jack Poplaski and Olivia, Madelynne, and Liam Walters.
