SMITH, Albert 'Ray' - Age 82, of Swartz Creek, died Thursday, October 23, 2008. Funeral services will be held 1 PM Saturday, October 25, 2008 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Rd., Fenton. Rev. Hal Phillips will officiate. Those desiring may make contributions to South Mundy United Methodist Church Building Fund. Visitation will be held 1-9 PM Friday at the funeral home, with a VFW memorial service at 7 PM by the Fenton VFW Curtis-Wolverton Post #3243. Ray was born July 25, 1926 in Flint, the son of Isaac and Gertrude (Scott) Smith. He was married to Ruth Alexander on March 24, 1949. Mr. Smith was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in WWII and was a member of the Fenton V.F.W. Curtis-Wolverton Post #3243, where he served as Chaplain for 15 years. He retired from United Airlines after 37 years of service. Ray was a Little League Coach for many years and was active in Linden Athletics. He was a member of South Mundy United Methodist Church. Ray was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Surviving are: wife, Ruth; three children, Allan and wife Cindy Smith, Roseann and husband Carl Gabrielson, Scott and wife Madeline Smith; 10 grandchildren, Cinnamon, Angela, Ginger, Carl Albert, Andrea, Matthew, Steven, Kevin, Todd and Chris; nine great-grandchildren.
