MARTIN, Albert James, age 88, of Grand Blanc, passed away Monday, May 17, 2010 at Clare Bridge. Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Friday, May 21, 2010 at Sharp Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Rd., Grand Blanc Twp. Fr. Gary McInnis officiating. Interment at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly. Visitation will be held 6-9 PM Wednesday and 1-4 and 6-9 PM Thursday at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to Avalon Hospice or Alzheimer's Association. Albert was born November 25, 1921 in Flint, the son of the late Benjamin Harrison and Elizabeth Mariah (Arthur) Martin. He was a 1940 graduate of Northern High School and had been a resident of Flint area all his life. Albert was employed for 34 years at Buick as a machine repairman until his retirement in 1974. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during WWII. He was a member of the Grand Blanc American Legion Post #413, U.S.S. Wilkes and Grayson Ship Reunions and U.A.W. Local 599. Surviving are 3 children, Judith Perkins (Ron) of Flint, Ronald Martin of Gaines, Cathy Tyler (Burt) of Fenton; 9 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; 3 sisters, Genevieve Sheldon (Carl) of Florida, Frances Sommer (Fred) of Florida and Dorothy Keifer of Florida; 3 brothers, John Martin of Grand Blanc, Harold Martin of Escanaba, Eugene Martin (Marilyn) of AuGres; sister-in-law, Marie Martin of Marquette. He was also preceded in death by son, Gary L. Jacobs; 2 daughters-in-law, Karen Lee Jacobs and Virginia "Cookie" Jacobs; 3 infant grandsons, Todd Allen, Christopher John, Anthony James; 2 sisters, Margurite Carruthers and Gladys Unsel; 2 brothers, Alfred Martin and Benjamin Martin.
