ASTA, Albert J. - age 70, of Swartz Creek, died suddenly on Friday, August 24, 2007 at McLaren Regional Medical Center. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:30 AM Tuesday, August 28, 2007 at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 706 Beach St., Flint. Cremation will follow services. Visitation will be held 4-8 PM Sunday and 11-2 and 4-8 PM Monday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd, Swartz Creek where a rosary will be prayed 7 PM Monday evening. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the American Heart Association. Al was born December 21, 1936 in Detroit, the son of Dominic John and Mary (McGlory) Asta. He married Bernadine "Bunny" Malak on November 4, 1983. Al, along with his wife, Bunny, was the proud owners of Soupals Cleaners and was very active in the communities they served. Al served on the DDA of both Swartz Creek and Durand, he was active the Durand Investment Club and Rotary. Al was a true people person, always putting others before himself. He had a zest for life, enjoyed golf, travel, listening to jazz, and had a passion for good cuisine. Surviving are: wife, Bunny of Swartz Creek; six children, Dominic Asta and wife, Maureen of West Bloomfield, Marie and husband, Robert Michaels of West Bloomfield, Alberta and husband, Brian Guralczyk of North Branch, John Asta and wife, Mia of Shelby Twp., Cheryl and husband, Val Trabucchi of Harbor Springs, Pamela and husband, Mark Rohr of Birmingham; 11 grandchildren; He will be sadly missed by many friends and relatives.
