Alan K. Burton, age 78, of Fenton, passed away with family at his side Sunday, March 5, 2023. A Visitation will be held on Friday, March 10, 2023, starting at 10AM until the time of the Memorial Service at 11AM at Fenton United Methodist Church, 119 S. Leroy Street in Fenton. Inurnment will be held at a later date along with Military Honors at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to send donations in Alan's name may send to either Michigan Parkinson's Foundation; www.parkinsonsmi.org or Fenton United Methodist Church. Alan was born on June 20,1944 in Detroit, Michigan to the late Ansel & Thelma Long. He graduated in 1962 from Cooley High School and continued his education at Highland Park Community College. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy 1963-1965. Alan worked in retail management with the former JLHudson Company in Detroit and ACO Hardware Inc. before retiring in 2003. He married the love of his life Mary Messerich on September 12, 1964, in Detroit, Michigan and together they were blessed with their three children.

Alan was an extremely active individual throughout his life. He enjoyed shore fishing and hunting at the family's "Base Camp" located in Baldwin, Michigan. He had a special knack for being able to pick up any type of sport or hobby and becoming a master of it; his hand and eye coordination was simply unmatched. Alan was a pro-level tennis player and truly enjoyed teaching clients and his grandchildren about the love of the sport. Together Alan and Mary enjoyed gardening and attending their grandchildren's school events. Alan was kind dependable man with a strong mental and physical stamina; his family will miss him dearly.

Alan is survived by his loving wife, Mary; his three children, Jonathan (Michele) Burton, Jason Burton and Christopher (Shari) Burton; grandchildren, Ashley Burton, Andrew McFall, Jacob (Kim) Uribe, Jason (Danielle) Uribe, Jessica (Casey) Rivette, and Kaitlyn Burton (William Butka); great-grandchildren, Liam Uribe, Hazel Uribe, Stella Rivette and three siblings, Joyce (Cliff) McDuffie, Wayne (Rose Frances) Burton and Keith (Colleen) Burton. He is further survived by many dear nieces, nephews, other dear family members and friends.

Alan's family would like to thank those that have reached out during these difficult times your kind words, prayers and acts of kindness are greatly appreciated and never went unnoticed.
