Robert Conover

Conover, Robert Osborne - Age 72, of Davisburg and Fenton, died January 22, 2020. Robert resided at Groveland group home at the time of his death.  Funeral services will be held 6 PM Thursday February 13 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Road, Fenton. Visitation will be held 5 PM until the time of the funeral on Thursday February 13. In lieu of flowers please donate coloring books, crayons or puzzles to a women's shelter or charity of your choice.  Robert was born January 27, 1947 in New Brunswick, New Jersey the son of George Washington Conover and Marjorie J. (Jenkins) Conover.

Bob inspired others to accept people as they were. Bob was born prior to Autism being recognized as a diagnosis. Bob parents were able to find people who helped them matriculate the path to raise a child and their family with unknown mental challenges.  People who assisted were Merrill Palmer Institute in Detroit, his special education teachers, family, friends, staff at group homes and workshops.  Bob helped add to the wider public and professional awareness and understanding of Autism.  Bob's parents were instrumental in initiating education for disabled children in Plymouth public schools. Although Bob was not verbal, he spoke volumes.

Surviving are: brother Donald (Nora) Conover of Colombia, South America; sister Nancy (Hugh) Armbruster of Fenton; his Groveland family; six nieces and nephews; thirteen grand nieces and nephews who Bob was very special to.
