WRIGHT, Mark Lawson – of Flint, age 53, passed away unexpectedly after saving another’s life on Thursday, October 13, 2022 at his residence. A celebration of life will be held between 1-4PM on Sunday, November 6th at Dom Polski’s located at 3415 N Linden Rd, Flint, MI. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the family.
Mark was born March 2, 1969 in Flint, Michigan to Barry A. Wright and the late Jill Princing Kellerman. Mark grew up in Flint, Michigan and attended Flint schools. It was during his school years, that Mark met his best friend Dave that he considered his brother. The two of them remained best friends and “brothers” throughout Mark’s life. There were only a few people Mark trusted in the world and Dave was definitely one of them.
After high school he enlisted in the United States Army and served from 1988 to 1991. During this time, he was originally stationed at Fort Bliss Texas and then moved to McCully Barracks in West Germany. It was while he was stationed in Germany when Desert Storm occurred. Mark received numerous ribbons, badges and medals during his service in the Armed Forces. He received Expert Marksmanship badges in several weapon areas. After serving in the Army, Mark joined the Wright family automotive repair business/Flint Auto Collision and there served as manager for many years.
Mark met his first love Bobbi and married in 1988, to which also began his legacy of being a father, even though legally it was through marriage, that didn’t stop Mark from loving Ashley as if she was his own or the bond they shared. This is also true when Alyssa came into his life, which just extended Mark’s love even more. However this family was not complete until they had their son Jesse. Jesse meant the world to Mark and would do anything for him. Mark was so proud of all his children.
As life sometimes has some twists and turns, this is true for Mark’s. He was lucky later in life, to have met another love when he met his late wife Tammy. She brought three children into their union and Mark opened his heart for all three, especially Heather, the youngest. Mark was one of the best stepfathers, hands down.
Mark enjoyed motorcycles, fast cars, hunting and spending time with family. He was a collector of guns, comics, and horror memorabilia. He used to race cars, loved 80’s Rock, Stephen King and video games. He had a wicked sense of humor and thought outside of the box. He was considered a “rock” that many confided in and his absence will be felt by all those who loved him for many years to come.
Surviving to cherish his memory are all his family and friends. Son: Jeston “Jesse” Wright; Father: Barry Wright; Siblings: Nicole (Tim) Groulx and Kimberly Wright; Stepchildren: Ashley (Jeff) Warren and Alyssa Bonesteel and also Nicole Beeler, Christopher Beeler and Heather (Brian) Vigneau; Nephews: Grayson and Rylan Groulx;
